THE superior design redefines existing safety scalpels by giving surgeons the same weight, feel, and dimensions as traditional #3 scalpel handles.
BladeGlove makes transfer, handling and disposal safe, allowing doctors to focus on what matters.
The BladeGlove design allows for full blade exposure during use and the added security offered by a separate cartridge ejection button to ensure multiple layers of safety for doctors and nurses without inhibiting function.
Patent # US 7,207,999 B2
The BladeGlove Safety Scalpel System was designed with safety in mind. It provides both protection and convenience for doctors and nurses.
BladeGlove features a multi-tiered approach to safety at every stage of use. The guard will automatically lock in the safe and retracted position by default to ensure safety from start to finish.
One-handed cartridge activation with no exposure to the blade.
No detachable components that could accidentally be left in the surgical site.
Separate ejection button on the side of cartridge to prevent accidental blade removal.
One-handed cartridge removal.
BladeGlove is designed to match the same handles that are universally accepted by surgeons worldwide.
The BladeGlove system provides the same weight, length, and shape as existing metal handles to ensure the same feel and center of gravity of standard scalpels. Reusable handle version uses coated stainless steel handle. In emergency circumstances, standard or specialized blades (with no guard) can be attached and removed from the handle using existing techniques.
Easy to use for both left and right handed surgeons.
One-handed blade/ cartridge removal operation.
Simple Cartridge/ Handle connection. Requires minimal In-service.
Handle is also available in plastic as a disposable.
Handle is also available in other sizes.
Disposable plastic handle version uses one handle and multiple cartridges per procedure to minimize medical waste.
Uses standard blades.
BladeGlove Cartridges can be safely removed and reattached without dangerous exposure to the blade itself. The cartridge system encloses standard blades until the shield is actuated to expose the blade.
BladeGlove cartridges attach blades directly to the handle with conventional design, providing the same rigidity and feel of standard scalpels so doctors can operate without having to adjust to a new system.
Cartridges are color coded for easy blade counting and identification, even at a distance.
Fully retractable cartridge exposes entire blade for optimal visualization during the incision.
Blade can be identified while in the cartridge through a clear window.
Disposable cartridge fully encloses the blade.
Cartridge can be removed from the handle and replaced or reattached at a later time.
